High speed broadband is still a very rare facility in India. High speeds up to 4 Mbps is now being offered by many competitive ISP thorough out India but they are not truly unlimited. After a certain amount of data, speed will come back to its original or i will say default standard speed offered by broadband companies in India that is 256 Kbps or 512 Kbps which is miniscule as compared to broadband speeds in other countries.
High speed and affordable plans are available in cities like Hyderabad. In Hyderabad Beam Telecom is doing a great job by offering truly unlimited plus high speed broadband plans starting from just Rs. 1,000. AS a result many other ISP also start offering affordable high speed plans in the same city. As a matter of example i want to state that the launch of BSNLs VDSL service in Hyderabad is because of the pressure from Beam Telecom only. But this type of fierce competition is absent from other Indian cities.
But i think this scenario is changing now as for the very first time in India, Reliance Communications reveals the all new high speed (up to 4 Mbps) and affordable broadband plans through out India. The category of these new Broadband plans will be known as Thunder Plans. This is definitely a revolution for the Wired Broadband in India as according to TRAI the speeds up to 2 Mbps will be made common only by 2015 but Reliance is doing the same in 2012.
Though plans are presently listed on the RCOMs official website but Customer Care representatives are saying that they don’t have solid information about the new Thunder plans available with them and asked me to wait for 24 hours.
Here is the screenshot of the same plans listed on their official website.
