On 31st December, 2013 world’s largest smartphone manufacturer Samsung announced the all new 8GB RAM modules with DDR4 technology. These modules can be used with latest smartphones and tablets.
Samsung has also indicates that up to 4GB of RAM modules will soon be available in some of the smartphones. This statement from Samsung clearly indicates that Samsung will launch the all new Galaxy S5 with 4GB of RAM. The Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung already features 3GB of RAM which is highest among the current breed of high end smartphones.
Technological advancements:
The all-new 8 GB LPDDR4 module will be manufactured using 20 nm fabrication technology. As compared to LPDDR3 there will be an increase of around 50% in performance in LPDDR4 and will consume 40% less power as compared to LPDDR3.
Bandwidth capacity of LPDDR4 is 3200 MB/sec/pin which is double of the bandwidth capacity of LPDDR3.
