As you all know that Apple has recently opened online iTunes store to Indian people. Most of the of loyal owners of iPad and iPod in India are waiting for the opening of iTunes store in India since ages. But there demand is ultimately fulfilled by Apple.
But according to me it is little late for Apple to launch iTunes store in India. The main reason for this is that two online music stores namely Flipkart Flyte and Nokia’s online music store is already present in India and well, their business is also booming according to the latest statistics.
Now let us do the comparison between Flipkart’s Flyte and Apple iTunes store. The main comparison will of course be on the base of pricing of an individual song and full album.
Here we are comparing the pricing of the individual songs from the latest Bollywood movie ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’
On Flipkart song from ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ is priced at Rs. 15 whereas on Apple iTunes store the same individual song from the same film is priced at Rs. 12. So Apple iTunes store is the clear winner here. Not only this, full album of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ is priced at Rs. 135 on Flipkart whereas the price for the same on Apple iTunes store is Rs. 108. This clearly indicates that Apple iTunes store is the clear winner in this case.
Now let us do a comparison for the pricing of Movies. We are here taking the example of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.
HD version of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ on Apple iTunes store is Rs. 490 whereas HD version or compete Blu Ray disc of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ on Flipkart is available for Rs. 699. So in case if you want to spend Rs. 209 more of the Blu Ray then you can go for Flipkart otherwise Apple iTunes store is a better option for Movies also.
