Whenever the word dual booting comes in front of some non techy person, he start to think that it is a very difficult task and he may damage his computer by dual booting. Even i am from the same category!
But you need to be happy about this fact that dual booting Windows 7 with Windows 8 is child’s play. You don’t have to do anything special for installing these operating systems as Microsoft has made this concept simple and straight forward.
If you have Windows 7 pre installed on you computer then well and good but in case if you don’t have it installed then please install Windows 7 prior to installing Windows 8. After that follow these simple steps:
1. Create a dedicated partition for Windows 8. You can do this using “Disk Management” utility from Microsoft pre installed on you Windows 7 operation system. To open Disk Management just search for this application in the Start menu search box. After opening It will look the screen shot given below.
In the above screen do a Right Click on the partition with large amount of free space. After that you will see the option for Shrink Volume. Just click one it. After that a box will open that will inform you the amount of disk space that can be freed out from this particular partition.
2. This step is very easy. Just boot into your computer through Windows 8 disk and perform a clean install on the Newly Created Partition. In this process Windows 8 will take care of the dual boot. After completing the installation you will get a dual boot option screen like in the screenshot given below.
