Nvidia revealed Kepler based GTX 690 Dual Graphic card

Nvidia had recently announced the launch of their kepler based dual graphic card which will be as usually be called as GTX 690. It’s performance and other benchmark data is already available online because of the Nvidia’s Geforce Webcast in Shanghai, China.

Architecture and inside GTX 690

  • GTX 690 basically consist of two fully blown GK 104 cores.
  • This is the same core which is featured in GTX 680 also which holds the title of world’s fastest discrete graphic card presently.
  • Specs include –> 1536 * 2 CUDA cores, 256 CTU’s, 64 ROP units which is basically double of the single GTX 680 GPU.
  • GTX 690 uses Nvidia’s custom designed PLX switch rather than NF200 bridge which was used in their GTX 590 GPU for linking two on board chips in dual GPU.
  • NF 200 is limited only to PCIe 2.0 generation whereas PLX switches from Nvidia is compatible with 3rd generation PCIe technology also.
  • The new GTX 690 also features 256*2 bit wide bus and a bandwidth of 192 GB/s per chip.

Power

  • Well, low power consumption is one of the key features of Nvidia’s Kepler series and because of this GTX 690 has much lower TDP of 300 watt as compared to GTX 590.
  • Due  to lower power consumption, Nvidia has to down clock the cores of GTX 690 to 915 MHz.
  • It has two 8 pin power connectors which delivers power of 300 watt and PCIe slot delivers 75 watt also. So this makes 375 watt in total.

External of GTX 690

  • Here we can see specially designed chromium plates aluminium body for the GPU.
  • Two vapour chamber on each GPU same as in their previous dual GPU’s
  • Fan is located at the centre and is made of magnesium alloy for faster heat dissipation.

Ports

  • GTX 690 have 3 Dual link DVI ports and 1 mini display port which can support in total 4 simultaneous displays.

Pricing

  • This card is not yet launched to public but when will it be launched is still not fixed.
  • Indian launch of this GPU is also not confirmed. Irrespective of the fact that one cannot even find other kepler based GPU in local shops here.
  • GTX 680’s price floating around Rs. 30,000. So companies will price GTX 690 around Rs. 50,000

Random stuttering in video game when played on a PC

cpu over heatingHere in this article i am basically referring to a problem which i am facing from past few days. While playing online multiplayer sessions in games like Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, i was facing a extremely heavy lag or you can say heavy stuttering. At hat particular time on cannot aim on their enemies and even they can’t walk on the field, everything looks to be jammed.

At the same i also open up info panel and saw that my ping is normal and stays around 90ms but than at the same i checked the bottom of my laptop and it was scorching hot to touch. After this i confirmed it by running the CPU load test and find out that it is really over heating and it under clock it self at this high temperature. This leads  to heavy lag during the game.

Than i had to open my laptop and cleans the dust out of it’s heat sink and now after cleaning it is running the same games without any lag. So dust is the main enemy of your computer. If you are playing on a laptop like me that have your laptop service after 6 months of time to prevent over heating and damage.

Sony India releases ICS update for their previous generation Xperia mobiles

Sony India had recently announced the release of Android update for their previous generation of Xperia handsets. Initially they had already released the ICS update for some of the European countries and this process of update to latest Android OS for Xperia based phones was started on 15th April, 2012.

Also it would be interesting to notice that in first round only 3 Xperia handsets that is Xperia Neo V, Xperia Arc S and Xperia Ray will get the ICS update and other will get the same after few months. The updated version of Android would be ICS 4.0.3

There is also a precautionary advice from Sony on their blog that in spite of their best efforts in porting ICS to their Xperia phones, there might occur a situation on which the overall stability of the phone may decrease due to less RAM available for the overall operation of the OS . As per the official requirement, Android ICS needs at least 1 GB RAM to run smoothly but most of the previous generation Xperia’s including top of the line Arc S is equipped with just 512 MB of RAM. So my advice is that thing twice before updating your stable android version.

Samsung Galaxy S2 receives a price cut

s2Samsung’s most popular high end android smartphone Galaxy S2 receives a price cut here in India. The price cut is of Rs 3,000. Initially most of the online stores and local retail stores prices Galaxy S2 at Rs 30,900 with some free perks like memory cards but now India’s most popular online shopping site Flipkart priced this phone at Rs. 27,900.

At this price there is no competition from any known mobile company for Galaxy S2. Though there are some options available in the form HTC Sensation and Atrix 2 from Motorola but they are really not up to the mark as compared to Galaxy S2. Sensation although featuring a 1.2 Dual Core processor and ICS update is plagued by some serious  problems like missed touch, overheating, non responsive screen over time etc.

It will be really interesting to know that why Samsung is doing all these price cuts. One possible answer is that they are making way for their next flagship model Galaxy S3 which will be a direct competitor to HTC One X and upcoming iPhone 5. Also one can expect a price cut for Samsung’s other phone also especially Galaxy Note which is presently retailing at a massive price of Rs. 32,700 + some free perks.

Samsung had already released the ICS update for Galaxy S2 in some countries and regions. It is also important to know that the version of Galaxy S22 retailing in India presently is i9100G which is slightly  inferior as compared to it’s international version i9100 mainly in terms of GPU i.e chipset.
