Number of landlines may not be increasing in our country but the penetration of mobile telephony in India is on continue rise. The number of landline user in India stand at 31,43 million as according to the latest data and on the other hand number of mobile subscribers are at 934.09 million. In June month alone, mobile telecom companies adds 4.63 million new mobile phone users. Presently India has a telephone density of 76.99% which means 77 people are using telephones out of every 100 people in India. Now that is definitely a good news for India.
Landline subscriber base decreases from 31.53 million in May to 31.43 million in June. Broadband subscriber base is now at 14.5 million which witness an increase as compared to 14.31 million in the month of May.
But the average broadband speed in India is not changing at all. We are still stuck at the same age old speed of 256 Kbps.
