Samsung as you all know had already launched its Windows Phone 7 based smartphone Omnia W in India but they continue to delay the launch of its other Windows based Omnia model that is Omnia M. But at last Samsung decided to launch Omnia M into the smartphone arena of India at a massive price tag of Rs. 18,650. This is of course the official price tag but it will definitely be available at around Rs. 17,500 in your local mobile shop.
This new Windows based smartphone will feature a 4.0″ display which is a unique thing for a Windows 7 smartphone as no other Windows 7 smartphone not even Lumia series from Nokia features a 4.0 inch display except Nokia Lumia 900 which is the flagship Windows phone from Nokia but mind it as the latter is available at a price tag of Rs. 30k + which is almost double of the price at which Omnia M is available.
As far as the specs are concerned, this phone will be powered by the same old aged CPU that is 1 GHz ARM based processor. It will feature a decent 4 inch Super AMOLED display which supports a resolution of 480 X 800. Other specs include a decent 5 MP primary camera with VGA video capturing, a VGA secondary camera, a mediocre 384 MB of RAM and a 4 GB of flash storage.
Specs wise Omnia M is definitely not a good one as there are some solid Android based dual cores from Sony Xperia lineup available in the same price range. Also other point which can have a negative impact on the sales of the Omnia M is that the Windows Phone 7 will soon become a dilapidated operating system as the new Windows Phone 8 will soon hit the smartphone arena in the next few months.
