Samsung yesterday has released a software patch for both USA and international version of Galaxy S3 which removes the local search functionality from the smartphone. This move from Samsung comes after the banning of Nexus smartphone in USA due to its local search functionality which according to Apple infringed its patent.
After leading tech site Techcrunch contacted Samsung on this issue, Samsung said that they have removed local search functionality from its international edition of Galaxy S3 by mistake and will revert it asap and now as per the latest reports Samsung has restored local search functionality for S3 users worldwide.
Local search functionality is basically an option in latest version of Android that is ICS which help users in searching for their files, documents, apps and contacts from a single unified search box. Apple claims that they have patented this technology and Samsung is infringing it without their permission.
