Struggling mobile manufacturer Nokia drops the price of their flagship Lumia 900 smartphone by 50 percent here in USA. This announcement regarding Lumia 900 comes just after 3 months of its launch in USA. This move from Nokia indicates its struggling position in the smartphone market which is dominated by open source market leaders like Android.
Official sources from Nokia USA said that this price reduction strategy is common to their product life cycle.
Nokia Lumia 900 is now available on contract from AT&T at 49.99$ instead of 99$ which is its price 3 months back. Nokia is facing tough competition from Android and Apple IOS. Even tie up with Microsoft has not change the fortune of this Finnish giant.
The main reason attributed for the recent downfall of Nokia is that the upcoming Windows Phone 8 from Microsoft will not be compatible on present generation Windows based phones including phones from Lumia series. This is on contrast with the fact Apple usually release the latest OS even for their older iPhone models.
Nokia’s future is now depends on the success of Windows Phone 8.
