Apple and Samsung rivalry will go to the next level with the launch of this device from Samsung. Just before the launch of the Apple iPad Mini, Samsung announced the availability of their more affordable version of Galaxy S3 that is Galaxy S3 “Mini”. This move from Samsung is definitely aimed at the much hyped affordable version of Apple’s iPad (iPad Mini) which is yet to be launched officially.
The new Galaxy S3 Mini resemble its big brother in the design department. It comes pre loaded with the latest version of Android operating system called Android 4.1 ‘JellyBean’. As a matter of fact Samsung is yet to release the 4.1 update for Galaxy S3.
As far as the hardware specs are concerned, S3 Mini comes with a 4 inch display which is 0.8 inch smaller than S3. It is powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core processor whose model and chipset is still not revealed. Primary camera is 5 MP and comes with a LED flash. Secondary camera is VGA with video calling support. Reported weight of the device is 111.5 g and comes with a 1500 mAh battery. Two models are available with different storage capacities. One is 8GB and other 16GB.
There is no official comment on the pricing of this new device but it can prove to be most probable iPhone 5 killer if priced right.
