How a blocked heat sink cause damage to your laptop?

I have a 2 year old Dell Studio 1555 with 2.1 GHz T6500 Core 2 Duo processor and a 512 MB ATI Radeon 4570 GPU. Recently it had started over heating to extreme levels causing lag in online gaming and other problems. Here i am attaching the screen shot of the Real Temp application which is used for measuring temperature of CPU and also can be used along with prime95 to measure the temp at different loads.

Average distance to TJ max basically refers to the difference between the present temperature and maximum temperature that is 100 degree Celsius.

And after cleaning the heat sink the temperature’s have gone down by a considerable amount. Here is the screen shot after cleaning.

You can clearly see the effect of cleaning the heat sink and there by extending the life of laptop.

AMD A8-3870K APU available at just 10 dollar more than A8-3850

The all new AMD APU A83870K black edition chip is just 10$ more than the previous high end APU AMD A8-3850. The A8-3870K is clocked at 3 GHz which is 100 MHz more than A8-3850. Other specifications like AMD Radeon 6550D GPU is exactly same on both the chips.

The major difference between these two is than A8-3870K is an unlocked processor there by increasing the chances of overclocking of both CPU and GPU components of an APU. As per the benchmarks the A8-3870K easily overclocks to 3.8 GHz and at that speed it is significantly faster than the stock A8-3850.

The present price of this chip at Newegg is 144.99$. In India it is available at around Rs. 7800.

Some of the benchmarks of this chip are listed below:

  • AMD A8-3870K 3D Mark 11 Score @ 600 MHz – P1153
  • AMD a8-3870K 3D Mark 11 Score @ 900 MHz – P1608

As you can see from above benches, the inbuilt GPU can easily overclocks by 300 MHz thereby increasing the performance in applications like 3D Games.

When will be the price of Samsung Galaxy S2 falls in India?

As you all know that Samsung’s Galaxy S2 is present in the Indian mobile market for quite a period of time now but still it is the best high end dual core smart phone that one can afford easily. Even after months, the price of Galaxy S2 continues to rise instead of falling. The primary reason for this is the depreciation of rupees as compared to US Dollar but still company is increasing the price of it’s flagship model even when the rupee is stable.May be Samsung want to extract the maximum profit from this device to compensate for it’s loss while competing with the Apple’s iPhone.

In the latest price increase the galaxy S2 went from Rs. 29,900 to Rs. 30,900 which means a direct rise of Rs. 1,000.  The various factors whic can force Samsung to reduce the price of S2 are listed below:

  1. Launch of Galaxy S3 – Samsung’s next flagship model Galaxy S3 will feature a quad core CPU as per the leaked reports and will plethra of other features such as extremely low SAR value etc. The S3 is rumored to be showcased at the CES 2012, which is going to held next month at Las Vegas.
  2. Rise in rupee value: Though there are no signs in the improvement of the EURO zone crisis but still one can hope that rupee will rise against US dollar in the coming months, forcing the price of S2 to go down.
  3. Availability of different quad core phones from various companies at lower prices can also force Samsung to reduce the price of S2.

Massive 84 inch 3D UDTV from LG to be reveled at CES 2012

As per the reports from the Korea IT Times, LG will showcase their first 84 inch 3D UDTV at CES 2012. This UDTV will support the maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 and have 4 Million pixels, slim bezel with 3D features such as depth control and sound zooming.

Other features include high quality graphic engine. This UDTV will have access to the LG’s more than 1200 applications and 3D movie library. Content can be navigated with the help of a remote control with 4 inputs namely VR (Voice Recognition), Wheel, Magic gesture and point. This UDTV is also capable of converting 2D content to 3D with the help of the inbuilt conversion engine.
