Google to close Google Video, iGoogle and their other services.

  • Search engine giant Google will soon permanently shut down some of their services and applications.
  • The services and products list which will soon be axed includes iGoogle, Google Video, Goole search app for Symbian, Google Talk Chatback and Google mini.
  • Among all these services and products, iGoogle and Google video are the most prominent one.
  • iGoogle is basically a service for the registered users of Google giving them the ability to customize Google’s Home page with different backgrounds and widgets. It will be closed in November month of 2013
  • Google Video is the old video hosting service from Google. They have stopped accepting uploads to Google Video in May 2009. All the present content of Google Video will be shifted to YouTube.com. Users can download or migrate their videos up till August 20, 2012.
  • The main reason for the closure of these services is that they are out dated and with evolution of modern social platforms like Google + and Facebook they seem to be irrelevant as per Google.

Google Nexus tablet will be available in India in October, 2012

  • Google has recently forayed into the already saturated tablet market with its own Nexus branded tablet. The Nexus tablet will be manufactured by Asus and will be available at a price of just 199 $ in USA. This low price of this tablet is its main speciality. This price will be subsidized by Google as per the reports.
  • In an interview with TOI, Asus reveals that they will launch Nexus tablet in India in coming October, when they will have enough stock to counter the demand.
  • Official Indian pricing and other details will be revealed in September.
